In its fourth edition, the conference will address the importance of working on soft skills in Education, from Early Years to Sixth Form, providing children with the necessary tools and instruments so that they can successfully face the challenges of today and tomorrow, bringing out the best version of themselves.

While promoting these skills in schools is very important, it is also possible and necessary to promote them at home. And this is what the IV Jornada de Educación will be about with Patri Psicóloga, who will address the importance of and how to work on soft skills in children on a day-to-day basis, reviewing concepts such as empathy, collaboration, adaptability, resilience, critical thinking, commitment and teamwork.

The event will last an estimated 45 minutes, culminating in a 30-minute question and answer session. In its fourth edition, St. George's British International School (Leioa) will host the event, which will be streamed via Zoom. Although the talk will be given in Spanish, there will be simultaneous translation into English.

The event is free to attend but it is necessary to fill in the following form to obtain the access link.

Practical and experiential learning

The British education system is characterised by practical and experiential learning from the earliest years of education. With a broad, balanced and flexible curriculum that adapts to the individual needs of each student, our curriculum (the English National Curriculum) encourages the development of key skills, such as communication, teamwork and critical thinking, while promoting educational excellence through the acquisition of knowledge in specific areas.

In today's world, characterised by rapid globalisation, technological advances and changes in the workplace, soft skills have gained significant importance. These skills, often related to interpersonal and emotional competences, become essential in the 21st century. For this reason, Globeducate British International Schools provides its students with a unique outdoor learning programme called The Journey, a unique opportunity to build their character, knowledge, skills, abilities, competencies and global perspectives by embarking on a personal journey of discovery and challenge.

The programme, which is integrated across our curriculum, offers students challenging and enriching activities organised to develop a range of fundamental skills in an unrivalled natural environment, from Early Years upwards.

All the activities in the programme are built around four pillars: Identity, Adventure, Nature and Community, and are aimed at promoting skills such as independence, self-confidence, well-being, creativity, challenge, problem solving, teamwork and cooperation, among others.

GBIS schools in Spain

In 2021 the Globeducate British International Schools cluster was created, a group of nine British and international schools across Europe within the wider Globeducate family, which currently has a network of over 60 schools on twelve countries and more than32,000 students. The cluster currently has four schools in Spain, located in Vigo, A Coruña, Bilbao and Valencia, preparing students every day to shape tomorrow through excellence in British education, with a global perspective.
