This year our school is participating in the Eco School project involving our community in a common project to improve the school environment.
We already have an eco committee made up of representatives from primary and secondary pupils, teachers, PTA, school staff and local authority representatives. This committee is responsible for analysing and making decisions concerning the environment during the school year.
We have decided to work on waste and how we can improve recycling in our school. The first step will be the pupils making a survey of the current situation and create an action plan to be carried out in the second term. The teachers of the different disciplines can also adapt their lessons to this topic during the school year.
Our students are very motivated and we are already starting to work on our three mottos: reduce, reuse and recycle. We are making a plan to optimise the waste in our school canteen. We will reduce and eliminate plastic in the school and we will reuse material by giving it a second chance.
We are lucky in our community to have students with many ideas and projects that we will be carrying out and we will be informing you little by little.
Our actions have already started. Last Friday different pupils from primary and secondary school participated in the campaign Nettoyons la Nature. In groups we collected rubbish from the car park and the forest around the school. It was a great success!
The projects to be developed throughout the year: school trips, lessons, playful activities with the students in terms of recycling and others will be sent to the organization Eco Ecole in France to opt for one of the medals that will give us the status of Eco School.
The question is: Are we doing the project to win a medal? The answer is certainly NO. Our aim is to raise awareness in our community about environmental issues and specifically the issue of waste.
It is going to be an amazing and challenging year for our school community!
