The week of 20th to 24th March, Coruña British International School joined Globeducate's ECO Week 2023, together with the rest of the group's schools around the world. It was a week of intense learning, both inside and outside the classroom, with environmental awareness and care as the common thread. As a Globeducate school, we are fully aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations. A commitment that we share with all the schools in the group to work together to end poverty, fight inequality and tackle climate change. This was the context for ECO Week, which this year included a wide range of activities to raise awareness among the entire educational community about the need to act today to be able to face the great challenges that our students will have to face in the future.

The children enjoyed making toys from reused materials, even creating a play centre for the cat of one of our teachers. They also went around the playground collecting and learning how to dispose of waste in the correct bin, helping to keep our daily environment clean and respectful. The Y6 pupils visited "Os Biosbardos" and got to know a space focused exclusively on ecological agriculture.

One of the latest additions to the Eco Committee, Lucas Cordero from Y6 wrote earlier when we asked him about this week: "I can say that the Eco Week was fun. It was a privilege to be able to go on an excursion to "Os Biosbardos" and spend a day in nature. There they used practically no plastics or electricity.  The best thing was that we were painting, but without paints, we made some natural dyes with the colour of the flowers.  I hope that the school will continue to organise this kind of activities, they are different for us and help us to take care of the Planet. I am very proud to have been chosen to be part of the Eco-Committee, I will do my best".
