48 per cent of O Castro British International School's students achieve A-Levels with A*
O Castro British International School

As every August, the students of O Castro British International School await the official publication of the A-Levels and IGCSEs, and once again, the academic results obtained by the second promotion of O Castro are among the most outstanding of all British schools in Spain. With a 100 per cent pass rate, 70 per cent of our students achieving A* to A grades (between 9 and 10 in the Spanish education system) and 48 per cent of our students achieving A* in their A-Levels, the equivalent of an honours degree in the Spanish education system, we couldn't be prouder!

University entrance grades were also incredible, with an average of 12.2 points out of 14. The highest grade was a spectacular 13.85, obtained by two students (Science and Technology), followed by a 13.42 (Humanities).

University destinations

These fantastic academic results have opened the doors to renowned universities in Spain, the UK, the USA, Canada, Holland and Germany. O Castro British International School Leavers 2021 will study at some of the most competitive and prestigious universities in Spain, such as Journalism and Audiovisual or Communication and Political Science and Law at the Carlos III University of Madrid, Medicine and Veterinary Medicine at the Complutense University, Engineering at the Polytechnic University, Mechanical Engineering and Biomedicine at the University of Vigo, or Dentistry at the University of Santiago de Compostela, coming in at the top of the list.

On the international scene, we find the University of Bath or Birmingham University (UK), Kings College, Imperial College or Greenwich University (London), Maastricht University (Netherlands), Ryerson University (Canada), Mercyhurst University (USA) or the University of Edinburgh, among others.

IGCSE results

The difficulties imposed by the coronavirus pandemic in the last year and a half were not able to tarnish the IGCSE (the British grading system for Secondary) grades which also achieved fantastic exam results. The usual British measure of success in IGCSE exam is the A*-C grade; at O Castro this was 91 per cent. Even more impressive was the fact that 63 per cent of the exam results were either A or A*.

Congratulations to both students and teachers, and to the whole O Castro British International School community!
